Visitors from LithuaniaIn October and November 2006 we had
visitors from partner schools in Lithuania in the metal and construction department. Students were integrated to our normal daily studies doing the same studies as our own students. Both groups were four
weeks in Haapavesi studying, visiting some companies and spending time with other students on their free time.
The aim of this visit was that the students get cultural and language knowledge of
neighbouring countries, they will know more about the working life and companies and they will get new impacts and motives for their further studies. This is valid for students on both Finnish and Lithuanian
students. The common language for both sides was English, but in the practical work setting an example is often the best way to get understood. Integrating language learning into the professional learning
will improve both language ability and professional skills.
